South Plains Service Blitz

Serving the World... Starting in our own backyard

What: Congregational Community Outreach Service Weekend

When:  Friday, June 20, Saturday, June 21, and Sunday, June 22

How:  Teams will go out into the Lubbock community to serve beginning/ending each day together in prayer at the building.  Concludes Sunday with a chuck wagon style dinner and live music celebration on the grassy area north of the building.

Service Possibilities:

  • Hospice of Lubbock:  thrift store organization

  • City Code Violations:  houses in need of exterior work and yard maintenance

  • Women's Protective Services:  make-up and haircuts

  • Vista Care Hospice:  work for caregivers, yard mowed, house cleaned

  • Adopt-A-Block:  knocking doors in Central Lubbock, providing games and snacks for Kids Korner there while we work in the neighborhood

  • Central/Sunset's Day School:  meal servers for breakfast and lunch

  • Teddy Bear Collection/Distribution:  Families/young children will make cards/notes to go with the bears one day, deliver the next.

  • Laundry:  take rolls of quarters to laundry mats at apartment complexes near church and pay for loads, and help fold clothes

  • South Plains Community Cookie Outreach:  Bake cookies for our church neighborhood on Friday, deliver door-to-door Saturday, asking for needs for future handyman projects/contacts, and invite to Sunday evening celebration.

Needed:  Crew Leaders to recruit teams of 8-10 workers from your Sunday morning Bible class and church friends.
