Our Mission:

Loving God,

Loving Others,

 Serving the World

Matthew 20:28 “…just as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve.”

Last month, our newsletter discussed how we have the opportunity to serve others through our missionaries and how we can share the word with others through mission outreach programs.  At South Plains, we have a wonderful opportunity to serve others within our own community. The Blitz will allow each of us to serve others by doing construction work, laundry, yard work, teaching children or even just going door to door inviting our neighbors to worship with us.

Last year, during our first Blitz, I was humbled by a service opportunity that allowed me to spend the day with some less fortunate children at Central Church of Christ. We were able to share Bible stories and art projects, which blessed me just as much as we seemed to have blessed them. My children and I also went door to door in our South Plains neighborhood, giving out cookies and inviting them to worship with us on Sundays and to attend the Concert in the Park at the conclusion of the Blitz weekend. I enjoyed hearing stories from several other teams about the way they influenced others throughout the weekend. Projects included anything from going to nursing homes and playing games with the elderly to re-roofing a house.  There are opportunities for every single member of our church family.

I challenge each of you to be a part of the Blitz this year, July 10-12. Jesus tells us, “It is better to give than to receive.” (Acts 20:35)  When you participate in the Blitz, you accomplish both.
