Focus on South Plains

by Jim Brewer

Thanks to all who invited and even brought friends this past month. The month of May always brings more guests our way, because of the end of school celebrations and Mother’s Day.  Each is an opportunity for us to show ourselves friendly.

Thanks also to all who have reached out to show love and support to our missionary families visiting with us in the past weeks.  You are mission minded people.

Let’s not forget to thank God for the mission field located in our building.  It’s called the next generation.  The rooms and features you constructed have been finished, but the children are still under construction with more on the way!

I’m excited to spend this month with the JourneyLand ministry, because of the potential to make a kingdom difference. It has been said that between the ages of birth and

14 there is a 32% chance an individual will turn to Jesus. After that point, the number drops quickly to about 6% during the rest of a person's life.  Real Life is meaningfully reaching out  to the next generation.

We welcomed seven new families to South Plains last month. Remember to be praying for out big outreach this summer (June 20-22) called “THE BLITZ.”  You will be hearing more about it in the weeks ahead.

* Dean and Gina Fentiman are the son and daughter-in-law of our Richard and LaRue Fentiman.   They have one daughter, Valeria, who is eight years old.  Dean is a contractor for IBM.   Gina and Valeria recently arrived from Panama and are adjusting to life here.  Most of their family time is now spent remodeling their house and in computers.  They attend the 10:45 service.

* Jack and Daphene Minter recently moved to Lubbock from Lynn County near O'Donnell.  Jack still travels back there to work on his farm.  They are the proud grandparents of our Talin Pepper.  Jack is a devoted student of the Bible and Daphene enjoys sewing.  She has become a part of our Pillow Ministry.  In 1967 they moved to Riverton. Wyoming for 25 years to help build up the Lord's church and they say that was a wonderful time in their lives.  They met James and Charla Padgett while living there.  They attend the Cornerstone Class and the 10:45 service.

* Alvira Agee moved to Lubbock from Phoenix in January of this year.  Her husband's family lives here, including our Peggy Coffman.  They are retired and Alvira enjoys crocheting.  They have three grown children and two granchildren.  Alvira attends the 10:45 service in the Family Life Center.
